Feature walls are back. Gone are the days of eye watering wall paper as 2018 sees textures making a key design statement, especially in the kitchen. The technical development of materials means marbles are more cost effective and laminates are more durable to extend the variety of offerings in the market. Our advice: expand your comfort zone, be experimental and be unique!
Create textureBelow, we used the contrasting marble worktop as an extended splash back which returns giving a high-level shelf. This creates a strong seamless look allowing the natural marbling to be the design statement.
What’s your brickwork like? Sometimes the best design pieces are the ones you already have. Here we used exposed brick accompanied by contemporary textured wall paper. Create contrast!
Modern classicsWood panelling has consistently stood the test of time when it comes to kitchen wall finishes. Here, tongue and groove panelling painted a rich, deep blue compliments the kitchen, yet still stands out as a feature wall.
If budget is a constraint or perhaps you want something a little more subtle, tiles are a tremendous way to create a feature wall. For a contemporary touch have a play with the layout. Here we ran the tiles up to the wall cabinetry in a 45 degree herringbone pattern.

As a creative content agency, Set Visions collaborates with clients to deliver engaging imagery and video to support their marking needs.Digital Marketing is an increasingly important part of a brand’s strategy in a highly competitive online market that offers multiple platforms from YouTube to Twitter to Instagram and Snapchat to maximise a brand’s visual reach.
A recent project with Wickes kitchens saw us develop a number of marketing solutions for their new product offering. Their handleless kitchen ranges needed a style concept, imagery for brochure and video to build awareness. Our in-house team produced this exceptional content over a number of phases with our project managers working with key stakeholders via on online approval tool and face to face presentations.
The minimalist kitchens were designed to reflect the Intelliga True Handleless system with clean flowing lines and key statement style. CGI stills were produced ensuring the images were technically correct and satisfied to the visual guideline our Art Director set. Here’s the development of one of the ranges, Esker.
The CGI team then expanded the concept a step further and animated key elements to bring the kitchens to life. This new content was then edited with motion graphics to highlight key call outs to the customer. The result is a fantastic video resource that can easily be re-edited for specific audiences and platforms.

This look is all about creating a calm space with a modern take on a classic styling. Mix up that classic style by updating furniture to modern mango woods. Soft and tonal blues are still very much on trend. Hints of denim tones in fabrics with chalky blues on cushions are ways to pull a winning array together - layer them up for a relaxing luxurious feel. We’re seeing a resurgence in pattern wallpaper and wallcoverings, in a calm colour tones.

Last year we predicted terracotta tones would strongly be featured in mainstream interior design and commercial photography. This trend is undeniably strengthening with the rich, earthy tones and textures displayed in to our imagery.
One of our favourite designs is this kitchen where we created a feature wall from a 12mm zenith worktop - accessorised with rustic terracotta propping for a tonal look.
It’s essential to mix textures for this trend. Think about using ionised finishes and rusty tones, mixed with sleek shiny textures and tactile matt fabrics. Key props pull this style together for a high end design look. By using copper and textured surfaces conveys a rustic aspect to the trend. We combined a water proof copper wall panel with complimentary earthy greens and contrasting sharp gold propping for a lux feel.
For this look we wanted a retro touch in a modern setting. Creating a wall mural was a great way to invigorate the set and deliver the on-trend colours featured in the earthy tone colour palate. Set Visions Technical Director has invested in cutting edge, next
generation server technology to maximise our team’s production output. We’ve expanded the capacity of our CGI
virtualisation by putting 20 processing cores to good use. Our new storage array has been
specifically designed for heavy access from multiple users while still
providing strong resilience against hardware failure.
The team constantly keep
ahead with security employing encryptions and firewalls. In addition to protecting the network from
intrusion they also provide excellent monitoring and reporting tools, allowing
you to see things that are otherwise invisible.
Our firewall helped us spot a bottleneck on the LAN that was costing us
precious hours of slower production.
Our new storage array is
now performing at 4 times faster than any single drive on its own meaning
a less stressed Production Manager, faster saves, shorter production times, a
happier CGI team and more importantly, happier clients.
